Horsham Square Pharmacy is now providing Covid-19 Rapid Antigen tests, and Rapid PCR tests.

The Covid-19 tests are laboratory grade and are performed by a clinician to ensure accurate results. Both antigen and PCR tests are administered via a nasal swab. Appointments are required and may be conveniently booked on the link below. Proof of identity is required. Official test results will be emailed to you within an hour of your test. Neither test is covered by insurance.

Do not enter the pharmacy when you arrive for your appointment. Call us (215-674-5050) and we will give you further instructions.

Rapid PCR test

PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests identify Covid-19 genetic material, are extremely accurate and are the ‘gold standard’ for detecting Covid. A PCR test is the test most often required for travel or a return to work. Cost $140

Rapid Antigen Test

Rapid Antigen tests detect specific Covid-19 proteins. Antigen tests require a higher level of virus in the test sample to indicate a positive result, which means that this test may sometimes lead to a false negative, especially if you are tested too soon after exposure (we suggest testing 3-5 days after exposure). Antigen tests are considered to have high accuracy (87%) during peak viral load. Cost $40

Which Test Should I Get?

There is no right or wrong answer regarding which test is best. Each has their pros and cons. If you are experiencing symptoms, believe you have been exposed, are required to have a test for travel or work, or want a test with as close to 100% accuracy as possible, then you may wish to have a PCR test.

On the other hand, if you are checking because there is a possibility you were exposed, are attending a family or group event, or for general surveillance such as for school or work, then antigen tests work well.
